Third Party Risk Management, TPRM, 3PRM, vendor management are interchangeable terms for the processes to identify, assess, manage, and control third party risk during the lifecycle of a relationship. Third parties are your suppliers, vendors, outsourcers, partners, and affiliated entities. In short, a third party is any business relationship except when it is your customer.

Third party relationships are embedded across every business unit and core service, creating a complex and extended enterprise, essential for your organization’s survival. Third party relationships inherently bring their own set of risks – strategic, operational, legal, and regulatory and/or financial – in terms of exposure and impact.

Translating your firm’s risk appetite and tolerance for risk into an effective and efficient third party risk management program requires a high level of skill and strong working knowledge across every aspect of operational risk – cyber, business continuity, and financial crimes – to name a small handful of risks.
